Schools in Baru Village – SD Negeri 2 Baru (Elementary School) and SMP NEGERI 3 MARGA (Secondary School)

Pure View®️Bali Baru
Baru is a village in Marga District, Tabanan Regency, Bali, Indonesia. Established in 2014 under the Tabanan Regional Regulation No. 1/2014 as an expansion project of the old village, it comprises four banjars: Banjar Pinge, Banjar Baru, Banjar Raden, and Banjar Susut.
SD Negeri 2 Baru (Baru Elementary School) and SMP NEGERI 3 MARGA (Marga State Junior High School) are the local schools in the village. Baru Elementary School has 49 students, while Marga Junior High School has 121 students. Both schools strive under limited conditions to provide skills training and cultural education to the children of the area, aiming to help their future development.

August 2nd: Sketching at Jatiluwih Rice Terraces
According to local folklore, “Jatiluwih” comes from “jaton” (charming) and “luwih” (good), suggesting it is a village full of goodwill, akin to a lucky charm. Another interpretation links it to Jatayu, a mythical creature resembling a golden-winged bird. Bali is renowned for its Subak irrigation system, considered sacred and culturally significant since the 11th century, developed in harmony with Hindu beliefs of living in harmony with nature.
August 3rd: Market sketching
Local markets offer the best insight into the daily lives of locals; observation and sketching help integrate into local life.
August 4th: Sketching the 700-year-old Banyan Tree and Tanah Lot Temple
The ancient giant Banyan tree stands 75 meters tall with a 65-meter diameter. Locals often hear gamelan music emanating from its 50-meter height.
Tanah Lot Temple, known as the “floating temple,” is a magnificent structure in Tabanan Regency, built on the island’s southwest coast. It honors Dewa Baruna (or Bhatara Segara), the sea god. Only Hindus can visit the interior, which gets submerged during high tide, making it inaccessible.
August 5th: Traditional Balinese Shadow Puppetry (Wayang Bali) workshop
Wayang Bali integrates performance, singing, music, drama, literature, painting, sculpture, carving, and symbolic arts. Evolving over a millennium, it serves as a medium for communication, education, philosophical understanding, and entertainment.
August 6th: Visiting Balinese artists
Meet local artists, engage in on-site exchanges and experiences.
August 7th: Visit the local countryside and sketch
August 8th: Explore the local village street scene culture and sketch
On August 9th, departing from Singapore, ve la vi on the roof of Sands Hotel celebrated Singapore’s National Day.
On August 10th, Pure View®️ Bali opened at Whale Museum Singapore
August 11th: Art study tour in Singapore. Return.
The purpose of “Pure View”:
• Let art serve as a bridge, enabling children in rural villages and young volunteers from metropolis to discover a different world through children’s pure view and see a better version of themselves.
• Inspire and cultivate children’s observational skills, teach them to uncover the beauty around daily life in the village that might have been overlooked, promote folk and traditional cultures, strengthen their expression and presentation abilities, attract the attention of more knowledgeable individuals to develop the villages, and reduce the number of left-behind children.
• Organize exhibitions for the children, broaden their horizons, inspire their creativity, boost their self-confidence, and make every child feel loved and cared for. The art exhibition not only acknowledges the children’s efforts but also encourage them to strive for improvement.
• Establish more connections between children and others and with nature, reducing feelings of loneliness, stress, and excessive modern entertainment. This way children can reflect on themselves while helping others and contribute to making the world a better place.

Tasks for Junior Volunteers:
- Provide care and build self-confidence for local students
- Observe carefully and sincerely draw people, landscapes, and feelings
- Share experiences with local primary school students, opening a window to the world
- Learn about and disseminate local culture
- Find ways to help and bring about change

The founders of “Pure View”
Dr. Jie Li Elbrächter
Artist, Curator, Ph.D. in Art Anthropology, Philanthropist, Founder of “Pure View”, and mother of three children.
Studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Münster Academy of Fine Arts in Germany, Geneva University of Art and Design in Switzerland, Central Saint Martins in the UK, and Fudan University.
Has conducted field painting and investigations in remote areas multiple times yearly since adolescence, trekked Tibet, crossed India with her first child at five months old, and subsequently taken her children on exploratory, aid, and teaching missions worldwide each year.
