Li Gang was born in 1986 in Dali, Yunnan Province, China. He studied in the Department of Experimental Arts of Yunnan Dali University and Central Academy of Fine Arts successively.

Li Gang’s artistic practice started from painting, but developed his unique painting language. Behind the paintings that wander between concrete and abstract, there is a deep reflection on the existence of painting itself by the artist from the perspective of ontology. Through the deconstruction and remodeling of oil painting itself, the author tries to return oil painting to the noumenon so as to find a new possibility of painting. Emphasizing the composition of oil painting ontology is not limited to the theme and method of creation. It is the main way for artists to explore the boundaries of painting for a long time.
