Outline of Dhyana-Ancient Series
In winter 2008, I painted a landscape on the wood blocks which stocked on the board, but it seemed that the painting did not meet what I anticipated, so I burned the block surface as further work. The other days, I happened to see lots of used wooden types in an antique store, and they gave me inspirations to create this series works. The wooden types engraved characters looks like pieces of monumental buildings, silently and implicitly, but laden with tremendous amounts of energy and information. I arranged them into stereo images. In the works, many carved readable character types are combined into a whole, and not readable, as our world. We are a wooden type, to survive in this world vision, and connect the existing and the nihility. As far as my pursuit in the works, I make great effort to construct an imagery of Dhyana, filled with quiet and peaceful pleasure.
