Gao Lei was born in Hunan in 1980 and graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2006. He received a bachelor’s degree in digital media. He now works and lives in Shanghai and has held many solo and group exhibitions.  He continued to translate and synthesize everyday objects around him through painting devices, photography and other creative methods, pulling away their original functions and attributes, giving some unknown and uncertainty to the object itself.
